Sair Festival - सैरी साजा

SAIR is a festival celebrated after the month of Bhadrapad (Kala Mahina), this festival is celebrated to mark the end of the Unauspicious month in which many Temples remain close due to the war with evil powers.

Also, SAIR marks the change in weather conditions that enables people to start harvesting Kharif crops.

Different region has a different way

Different region has a different way of observing this festival, in Kangra,Kullu and Mandi it's limited in a family. Only place like Shimla and Solan observe it as a public gathering locally known as 'MELA, people participate in Natti and the Deity is also worshipped.

Preparations

The preparations for the celebrations start on the previous evening before the day, the dough for special bread is prepared, also other important things required in the worship are arranged.

On the day of the festival, a special offering of seasonal produce like corn, walnuts, cucumber, specially made childu etc is offered to the Deity.

In Kullu, people share a twig of grass named zub/juub, whereas in Kangra & Mandi people share walnuts and worship Sairi Mata 🙏
